FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are no age restrictions in chiropractic. From newborns to seniors, everyone can benefit from chiropractic care in Andover. Newborn babies endure unparalleled amounts of physical stress during the birthing process. Studies have found that 95% of newborns have subluxations in their neck and that removing these subluxations can prevent the development of several types of disease including, but not limited to, infantile colic, bedwetting, allergies, asthma and ADD/ADHD. It’s also never too late to get started. Seniors have much to benefit from chiropractic care. Improving their quality of life without medications is something that we, at Health and Healing Family Chiropractic, love to give to our patients. Regular adjustments can give independence to seniors who want to take care of themselves by restore proper nervous system function, increase joint mobility and improving coordination.
NO! After the first, second, or third adjustment some people decide that they never want to stop seeing a chiropractor, especially once you notice how much better you feel all the time. If you go into an office when your body is in a moderate or severe condition, then there is a chance that your initial care plan might call for frequent visits. An important thing to remember that the chiropractor is trying to help fix your misalignments in your spine! This is a delicate, specific process. There are also the lifestyle choices that your doctor is combating against including poor posture, sleeping position, stress, etc. Just like when you go to a dentist for a check up on your teeth, it is recommended that you see your chiropractor for checkups on your spine. Health and Healing Family Chiropractic will find the root causes of your problem(s), treat the cause and help prevent further problems.
A chiropractor is not a "bone crusher" and does not "pop" bones. A chiropractor doesn't "crack" or "snap" your neck. When adjusting the spine the Doctors use a tool called the Integrator. It is used to give a very specific adjustment with a specific torque and vector to help the body to align the spine and correct the misalignments, which chiropractors call Subluxations. The nervous system is the master controller of the body so freeing the body of subluxations will help the nervous system work better. Using the integrator to remove subluxations is very gentle technique and typically no cracking sound will be heard.
Chiropractors are experts in fixing causes of pain and increasing motion in the body. At this point all NFL teams, except the Oakland Raiders, have publicly admitted to utilizing a chiropractor. Some of the world’s best athletes swear by their chiropractic including Michael Jordan, Derrick Rose, Tiger Woods, Gerald Wilkins, Jerry Rice, Aaron Rogers and Terrell Owens. This list can continue for a long time but we think we made our point. It’s becoming normal for chiropractors to be kept close by for teams and athletes to use to help prevent injuries, maintain flexibility, keep the lungs functioning at their max potential and improve coordination.
It may shock you to know that chiropractic in Andover is more than just treatment for back pain. Chiropractic is a lifestyle that revolves around taking care of your body. A Doctor of Chiropractic is trained in nutrition, physical therapy, fitness, reading x-rays and diagnostic procedures. The education and clinical hours that a Doctor of Chiropractic and a medical doctor is similar but where a medical doctor spends time learning about medications to prescribe, a chiropractic student learns how the body can take care of itself and fix the problem.
